I then send it to the machine using UGS I attached a couple of images showing an svg loaded into jscut and 'pocket' chosen. I tried the 'F-Engrave' Open Source as well which works pretty fine but if i need a bigger picture and then engrave some text to it i need Inkscape because of the coordinates. I use svg > ( which can be downloaded for offline use ) makes the gcode. Gcode Extension Engraving I want to engrave Text with my CNC machine but not just the outlines of the letters, which results in smaller scale to ugly results. With images this works fine, but with every way that I have tried to do the text it generates an image that goes around each letter rather than simply going down the center. The xTool D1 Pro is an excellent choice for a laser engraver/cutter. Inkscape has an extension called 'gcodetools' but I don't use it. I have been trying to to use Inkscape to create the SVG file to use with MakerCam to generate G code for simple text engraving using Mach 3 on my CNC mill. Overall, I'm very please with the D1 Pro and customer service from xTool staff. The RA2 adapter works well and I've successfully engraved several wireless microphones using the D1 Pro on the RA2. For hobby and crafts use one may want to explore other more complex options. Creative Space is fairly easy to learn and for marking/engraving use is really all one needs. The freebie control application software "xTool Creative Space" installation is simple on Windows based computers and runs well. All necessary tools for assembly are included and easy to read instructions booklet. The D1 Pro's are well built units, and pretty easy to assemble. One is setup for making stencils only, which we use for marking our road case exterior with company logo and contact information as well as case contents which facilitates an organized setup and truck loading. I liked the initial setup so well I ordered a second D1 Pro. I ordered the dual laser setup with both Blue and IR lasers as well as the RA2 rotary device as we have microphones that needed engraving.Īfter a bit of a learning curve on do's and don'ts as well as learning material properties things are going well. After a bit of online research, it was determined the xTool D1 Pro would be a good option. 50mm+X*45mm(each set riser height column)įaced with a need to put identification markings on a couple of hundred items in a Sound & Light + DJ service business the laser was decided to be the best option.
